So much better than the screen adaptation, it's hard to know when to start. I guess the best way to describe it is that Jason Bourne character is much much more complex that the movie depicts. Add to that the fact that the plot was completely reworked to get rid of Bourne's nemesis in the movie. The book actually focuses on the terrorist Carlos who was active in Europe in the 70s/80s. And trust me, the book story line is full of surprises, with very interesting facts about Carlos. Still a work of fiction of course, but a pace that will get you going. I read both the French and American versions (meaning I read the trilogy twice) and it is that good that I won't mind reading it entirely a third time :-)Tags : The Bourne Trilogy [Robert Ludlum] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Bourne Trilogy Robert Ludlum 8601405081261 Books Reviews
What can I say, Bourne is badass. I won't give anything away, but I will say that the movies and the books are different. The only movie that really comes close to the books is the first one. After that, they deviate pretty far, so clear your mind if you have already seen the movies. Honestly, the Bourne character in the books is so cool anyway. Loved it.
The Bourne Trilogy is a must read. It is a constant page-turner thriller. Each page leaves you wanting to read another. It is filled with suspense and keeps the reader anticipating for more. I couldn't put the book down. I was reading 4-5 hrs a daily until a finished with book one. Couldn't wait to get into the next book two or book three. Great reading for someone with an appetite for suspense, action, and the unexpected. Great story lines!!!!!
Does this look like hardcover to you? I was hoping for the thick books. What the hell is this? Also it was said that it was the first Edition this is so not first edition at all far from it
I had read the books years before the movies and became an avid fan of Mr. Robert Ludlum, his other books and of course Jason Bourne. I was thrilled when Mr. Lustbader was given permission/rights to continue the Bourne character. And since there had been some time since I'd read the books, it was refreshing and thrilling again to re-read these books. I'd forgotten some of the details in the books and not in the movies. Lastly, this was the first time I'd seen the all-in-one Bourne Trilogy and I will say the book is a little cumbersome to read-but worth it, especially for the great price and service I received. Thanks to all involved.
I gave this as a Christmas gift to my husband, and I hit the jackpot!
We are both an enormous fan of the movies, but the books to it to a whole new level for him.
While still a huge fan of the movies, the books (which are always better, let's face it) - are easily now his favorite, and now he's one of "those" people who loves to compare and ruin the movie a bit for me... You know the kind - "that's not how it happened in the book..."
If you, or a loved one, is a fan of the movie and any kind of reader at all - this will be a hit.
I didn't realize how thick this book was going to be. They put all three novels into one book, it is over 3" thick, which makes it hard to read. Thinking of cutting the binding it into three pieces so it is manageable.
Asking if Robert Ludlum is a suspenseful writer is like asking Picasso if he knows how to paint. Ludlum books are a slow read in the beginning because he spends a lot of time describing the environment surrounding the characters. You usually think this is taking time to get anywhere. After about 1/3 of the way into the book, everything starts to pick up and by 2/3, you cannot turn the pages fast enough to find out what happens.
I've read every one of his books and consider him one of the best.
Followups by various authors carrying on in Ludlum's name (only) are a real disappointment and cannot be truly counted in critiquing Ludlum novels written by the author, proper.
