I really enjoyed reading Highland Savage, it's a great highland romance. It has action, betrayal, and a great romance. It is a good follow up to Highland Barbarian which had Artan Murray in it. This book has Artan's twin, Lucas in it.
The book starts out with Lucas looking for revenge against Katerina, a lass he had been wooing a year prior, who Lucas feels betrayed him in the most ultimate way by having him beaten nearly to death, then thrown off a cliff into a loch. Lucas had survived his terrible beating, just barely. He spends a year recovering from his severe injuries using his anger and plans for revenge to push him to recover. He continues to have a scar on his cheek and a limp from his badly broken leg despite his recovery.
He returns to Haldane lands to do his revenge against Katerina, only to find out all is not what he thought. Dunlochan is in dire straights due to being managed by the people who did his beating. He finds he still has feelings for Katerina as he tries to come to find out what the truth actually is.
I really enjoyed this book, I would actually rate it 4 1/2 stars if allowed by this rating system. I found no typographical errors, or misplaced or misspelled words. It has steamy sex scenes. It has very good and well rounded supporting characters. This is my third time reading this book and each time I read it, I enjoy it more and notice things i missed or had forgotten on previous reads. Lucas is a very likable hero. He is a very handsome(despite his scar on his face, caring, strong warrior with principles. He is also very real. Katerina is a strong woman, who manages to put together a band of men, mostly made up of her cousins, and leads them quite well on raids. This was unheard of back in the 1400's. She also manages to be quite a women for Lucas. I have no complaints over her character. They are a good fit. The book has plenty to keep the reader hooked til the very end. I would recommend it to anyone who likes historical romances, especially highlander romances. I will continue to read books by Hannah Howell, I haven't found one I haven't liked, yet.

Pretty much hated this book. Slow, boring, and not much of a plot. i finally gave up reading it because all it did was put me to sleep.
I chose this rating because the book was a nice easy read. The problems they faced where believable. Now I did find the heart break she was having was a little annoying, could easily been fixed early on just by talking out their problems. Which they did do, but I felt that part was drugged out a little. Nice ending to the book with family coming together. Would recommend book to any all, especially to those of us who like a hero who rides in a horse and saves the day.
One word Painful.
The plot line was silly; the characters erratic and not believable. From beginning to end, I kept waiting for the story to get better. It didn't. Books 12 and 13 were much better and more interesting. I always finish a book I start and this one sorely tested my resolve to do so. If you are reading the series, skip this book.
I really like the story of the book but it seemed to drag on forever. It wasn’t like the other Murray books. I gave it five stars because I like the author & I do like her writing, it just was a bit long for me.
Lucas Murray was disguised as a monk,but could not go through with it, he is a warrior not a monk. He is looking for the men who beat him. He is Artans twin (from Barbarian Book 13). He was beaten and his leg was broken very badley actually it was shattered. He believes he was betrayed by he's love Katerina Haldane.He needs to get well and his l
broken leg mended so he can go after the men who tried to kill him. The book is about all the problems he and Katerina have to go through. It is another very good story by Hanna Howell. I recommend zany of her books as she killed a very good writer.

I generally enjoy this author, but this was not one of her best. There was a great deal of back and forth about the HH liking, not lining, wondering about feelings, etc. It was at the expense of what could have been a stronger and firmer plot with more background into Scots history.
Lucas had returned from the dead everyone thought. He had been beaten by his enemies and left for dead. Lucas thought his love had betrayed him! She thought he had betrayed her! He had returned home to heal and not be a cripple.
His Love had become a leader of a gang of men to regain her castle and be the Laird. Her Half sister had taken over everything and claimed it as hers. The story was long and unbelievable!
Lucas met his love mate again and joined her warriors, it took a while for them to believe that neither of them betrayed each other. They all lived underground for almost a year before they could defeat the surprising enenies! I cannot give this book a good rating as i have read many Highland Warrior Romances that were so much better. I couldn't wait until I finished this book! I never leave one unread, good or bad! The Books that i have read back in 2011 have been better than i have read today! I like them Hot with lots of action!
